Today I have a special treat for you. A one page reference guide to the amazing Bullet Journal system invented by Ryder Carroll. This will be a handy way to share with others and have a resource while you're explaining the system to them.
Bullet Journal Set Ups
Sharing what I'm up to in May in my Bullet Journal and I touch on the reasoning for why I use my Bullet Journal the way that I do. Also a fun new ink color for the month: Deep Green!
Hello there!
Welcome to a new month of the year! How are you feeling about it so far?
Every month I make a goal to pare down my Bullet Journal and keep it pretty minimalist, and somehow I end up adding a bunch of collections at the beginning, especially if I'm starting a brand new notebook.
Today I want to walk you through how I used my Bullet Journal in January and share insights I learned about what worked, what didn't work, what I tweaked, and how February is going so far.
I spent a good portion of today setting up my Bullet Journal. I'm using an official Bullet Journal Leuchtturm1917 notebook this time. It is such a beautiful companion to the Bullet Journal system! I highly recommend you grab one at some point to show your appreciation to Ryder for sharing the wonderful system with us. :)
I've been using the Bullet Journal system since August 2014. It's the only system I feel I am actually getting things done with, rather than just shuffling around tasks. The simple nature of the system in an analog solution is what drew me into it in the first place.

Today's article a short and sweet one with some of the shortcuts I've found helpful over time with the Bullet Journal. Some I came up with, others I did not.
I like to call these little cards Signifier Magnifiers because they illuminate the signifiers that are located within the pages to make it easier to scan what's inside the pages.
The idea is that it helps magnify certain things that you added to your pages because sometimes when you look at the page as a whole the information can get lost, but with this Signifier Magnifier you'll be easily able to find what you're looking for.
Keeping track of repeat tasks & events is a popular topic in the planning community. I have a few ways I handle these in both my analog and digital tools.
The Gratitude Log is one of the more popular ideas I've shared. It's not surprising considering how big of an impact taking time to think about what you're grateful is.
This month's theme for the #BulletJournalChallenge on Recentering is the perfect way to end the year and prepare for the new one.
Today I want to share with you a VERY handy hack to get more out of your Bullet Journal. I find it extremely effective and seamless. It has increased the efficiency of my workflow - hopefully you'll find it helpful too!
The 'waiting on' log is one of my favorite collections I've added to my Bullet Journal. I created it out of a need to keep track of responses I'm waiting on. I add a new collection to each notebook to help me stay of top of them.
I want to begin the last month of the year with a sweet and simple article on the best productivity tips that I have found to be extremely helpful for me. Hopefully you'll find them helpful too.
Some of you might be participating in National Novel Writing Month, otherwise known as NaNoWriMo. I found a few fun resources that might be of interest to you if you're one of the brave and ambitious souls to take on this challenge! Even if you're not participating in NaNoWriMo, this is a good article to read through if you're a writer, are interested in becoming one, or like reading about writing-related articles.
I’ve recently rekindled my love for sticky notes. They really are quite wonderful. I’ve been using all different sizes lately according to what I write down and am finally getting some use out of all my Target dollar spot sticky notes. Anyways, I was looking around online at sticky notes and found myself looking at some cute ones from Amazon when I stopped at looked at the $10 price tag. Erm, $10 for a handful of sticky notes? Plus shipping costs? No thank you.
To help you figure out what kind of information to place into a weekly layout, if you're considering that route, I put together this post. Do note that this guide can also be applied to any weekly layout, not just custom ones designed in a Bullet Journal. I also included a crash course on habits. First we'll go over the virtues of the weekly layout, then we'll cover how to set it up for your best week yet!
I have been meditating on all sorts of layouts for this particular post. I'm excited to share with you the labor of love that I've come up with.
This time we’re going go over the standard method for the Bullet Journal that Ryder Carroll gives i.e. the monthly and daily views. There’s a clear difference between the monthly and daily method versus the layouts that achieve this. We will look into different layouts that will achieve a similar purpose as the standard layout.
I ask myself a series of questions in order to evaluate what I did and how I felt about my day and what things I want to work on. I also like to close it down by asking myself what I am grateful for that day.
If you like to know where your time is going, try creating a timeline, where you can keep track of your everyday doings. You can place in appointments you have for the day, as well as keep track of other things you've done and/or want to do.
One of the great ideas with the Bullet Journal is in migrating tasks. Moving things from page to page can become a chore, which in itself is brilliant because it ensures it eventually gets done. To help expedite the process
Observations
A false sense of accomplishment is when we spend a good chunk of time planning and then feel 'accomplished' because of the effort that it took to plan. We think that we've been productive when in reality we've only put a plan together.
Over time I've seen many new Bullet Journalists fly into a series of stages when it comes to finding their footing with the Bullet Journal. Sometimes all the stages are taken, sometimes they dive into one and jump around, some skip some of the stages altogether. It is really pretty fascinating seeing these occur, so I thought it'd be fun to share my observations with you.
The Bullet Journal is a wonderful system, one that can sometimes seem deceptively simple. Because of this, it's important to keep the following tip in mind in order to get the most out of your Bullet Journal.
About a month ago I noticed an air of exasperation among the Bullet Journal community. A desire for simplifying and trying out an approach to less: getting back to the basics and refocusing.
When I wake up I usually have so many things running around in my head that I just want to get them out. What I would usually do to alleviate this is brain-dump into the daily page of my Bullet Journal, which is what Ryder Carroll of the Bullet Journal advocates with rapid-logging.
But, what usually happens to me after brain-dumping/rapid-logging is that I feel a sense of relief by having just jotted down all of the tasks that I want to complete.

The quest to improve your handwriting is an interest that is prevalent in the planning, handwriting, hand-lettering, letter-writing, and journaling communities. It is something that we all have in common; we write, therefore we desire tidying it up.
Announcements
A year ago in early December, I decided to get more serious about blogging. I can’t believe it’s been a year already! So many wonderful things have happened and I am so grateful for every single one of you! Without all of you, I wouldn't be here today! I wanted to take some time today to share what I’m grateful for, accomplishments, what I'm looking ahead to, and tips if you want to become a (better) blogger.
