December Plan With Me Challenge

Hello everyone!

The lovely Jessica from Pretty Prints and Paper and I are back with another #PlanWithMeChallenge! If you're new to the challenge, the purpose of the challenge is focusing beyond what our planner looks like to dive into thinking about how it functions in our lives. What makes it tick? How do we use it to gain control of our day? How is it helping us accomplish our goals and tasks? What are some hacks we've come up with?

These are all questions the challenge aims in inspire thought about and many have shared wonderful input on how they plan with their Bullet Journal, Traveler's notebook, Day Designer, Kikki K, Filofax, Discbound system and more. All planner types are welcome to share how their planner of choice functions in their lives.

It's always wonderful seeing the wheels turn with further exploration and thought into how their system works. We've had a lot of positive feedback about how the challenge has helped others think about their system in a way they hadn't before as well as discover new ideas to try out! It's all thanks to wonderful people like you who contribute thoughts and insights that make this challenge great and we are honored to have you share.

This time we have a couple of new surprises!

First off, Kara from Bohoberry is joining us in hosting the challenge!

Second, we've expanded the challenge with a Facebook group! Yes! We listened and created a Facebook group that many of you asked for.

These are exciting new changes that we're over the moon about!

5. Share your insights, engage with others, and above all have fun!

Here are some of the wonderful ideas that were shared in November:

{Day 27} #planwithmechallenge - Advice for success. I'm going to reword. Let's imagine this prompt to say, What's been successful this week. Well, it's been my Daily Docket. Inspired by Giftieetcetera. This little sticky note idea is awesome. I work it a little differently. Top 3 things, What leaves the house with me today and "To Do's". Migrate what's not done. Screw it up and start another for tomorrow. Brilliant. And yes, you see rings. Tried and true ❤ maybe that's my advice for success. Stick with tried and true because loyal friends are hard to find x

#planwithmechallenge No. 28/Nov: Ideas for December - I am getting in a little early on this prompt as I am currently setting up December in my Filofax Domino. I have also been working on some chapters from Eat That Frog, trying to organise some goals and objectives for the coming year and months. This December I will track less habits as I found that this month I was trying to keep track of too many things, trying to simplify a little bit for the rest of this year. I'm excited to be back in my Filofax! Also you might notice that I have a new page! Lessons learnt & after this page is Gratitude. I was inspired here by many of you in this wonderful planner community to give it a go and see what it brings to my day to day life.

#planwithmechallenge Day 25: IN PROGRESS I'm trying to get moved into my new planner in addition to getting my December layout all set up. I still need to add my December tasks and I think I'll track one skill to learn, not "habit", so I need to add that as well. I'm also trying to think of better ways to transition into new planners as this is a little tedious this time around. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? You may have noticed these little sketches in pictures of my daily pages this month. They're how I'm keeping track of a little in-progress challenge that I set myself. I was really bored and tired of wearing my hair the same way all the time so I decided to do a different hairstyle each day this month. Nothing elaborate, just something new. So far I have kept up with it and I am really pleased with the results. Some styles are total duds but I've found a few that will be going in my regular rotation. Without my dear #bulletjournal I never would have thought to brainstorm this. Nor would I have been able to track it so easily. 😄 Day 25 of the #planwithmechallenge #bujo #hair

#planwithmechallenge Day 24: Stay Motivated. Trackers and future planning are great motivators for me. Being able to check things off the list is like a small reward for staying on track and on task. Another great source of motivation for me is the #bulletjournal community. All of you have such wonderful and creative ideas, and it's so great that you're willing to share them with everyone 💕 Happy journaling everyone! #planneraddict #bulletjournallove #leuchtturm1917

#planwithmechallenge Day 24, stay motivated. Change things up, try something new. This is a sneak peek at a weekly overview I've been testing out. My #bulletjournal layout for the week! A little late getting it done because today was a pretty lazy day as far as tasks are concerned! But better late than never, right?! 😁 So day 21 and 22 of the #planwithmechallenge are wishlist and projects. I do plan to make a wishlist soon of some things I desire, however I haven't yet! I may do it after this week's spread, along with a project page for Christmas activities I want to do with my kiddies! #bulletjournaljunkies #planner #miquerius #myplanner #bujo

Day 21: Projects #planwithmechallenge My biggest non-work project lately has been getting accustomed to my newfound love for the #bulletjournal system. After my "practice" notebook broke earlier in the week, I upgraded to a #leuchtturm1917 in Royal Blue and I am really pleased with it so far. This weekend has been about getting things moved over that I'll need for the rest of the month and getting things ready for December! #planwithmechallenge No. 22/Nov: Projects - This is a project that I have been working on slowly this year, the A5 Recipe Filofax. I still have over 50 recipes to transcribe onto my beautiful custom paper inserts by KiddyQualia (seriously check out her Etsy.) Most of the recipes are mine, some are written by friends, some are even written on the back of receipts. I can't wait to get to the completion of this project and use them. I was suggested to that I should laminate them as well to protect the (I'm a messy cook and my partner suggested it lol) I have a few other projects going on, but I feel determined to finish this one in the next month.

#planwithmechallenge Day 20 - #productivity tips. Like everything worth having in life productivity is a muscle that needs continual work. It keeps me productive and creative at the same time. This visual library, was inspired by @sarazorel. She has a great channel of doodling resources. Definitely, check her out. 😀👌 #bujo #bulletjournal #bulletjournaljunkies #doodleart #plannericons

Day 20: Productivity tips | My advice would be to (a) never stop trying new things and (b) get those washi, pens, and list pads that you haven't used in ages and use them. I thought I'd break out the days of the week washi and try a 2 page weekly spread. I like that if offers more space per day for appointments... Sometimes I am double booked. This week has been busy so I really crammed in tasks. Can't wait for a short week next week. ☺ #planwithmechallenge

Day 18-20: #workspacewednesday , Your Thoughts On, and Productivity Tips. So this is my newly decided workspace. I've had it set up in my "studio" at home for quite awhile but it became a place to dump all my loose papers and books and anything I didn't want to deal with, until last week. I'm lagging in my classes and got inspired my Pinterest to utilize my workspace better. Which directly relates to my productivity tips. De-Clutter. Don't have any distractions (I see you Facebook and Instagram). Make a structured list for tasks to accomplish one after the other. Use the Pomodoro technique. And lastly, just buckle down and get shit done. P.S. I don't have thoughts on anything right now except corporate finance and human resource management which aren't very fun to talk about. #planwithmechallenge #bulletjournal #planner #workspacewednesday #jkitsfriday #imeanfriyay #productivity #november #desk #workspace #collegelife

#planwithmechallenge 11.20.2015 - Productivity Tips. Absolutely LOVE my stencil from #mooandtheboo !!! Perfect for the #bulletjournal and other #planners. On this page, I used the squares and the sun stencils. If some boxes appear slanted or crooked, that's user error on my part 🙈 anyway, again, these are perfect! There are just some days, you don't have enough time to stamp or put need to just get your plans on paper and get to being productive...or maybe you want a simple layout...or the simple fact that you don't want to carry it all with you. This is perfect and will be perfect for our Chicago trip. I will just being my stencils, pen case and #foxydori and I'm set! Thank you @mgbuehrlen !!! I think you can preorder them now -

#planwithmechallenge Day 15: OOPS! Stephanie, why the heck were you tracking ELEVEN habits? Umm, cuz it made me look really cool and productive. How'd that work for you? It drove me crazy, I stopped after day 8. NEVER. AGAIN. I call this my "oops" because every time I pass by this September page, I get annoyed at its incompletion and want to cover it up. But I am quickly reminded of the sweet lesson I learned: I'm already Type A, I don't need to add to my personal crazy :) #plannercommunity #planneraddicts #plannernerd #plannerpeace #planner #plannernerd #plannerlove #bulletjournaling #bulletjournaljunkies #bulletjournal #plan

#planwithmechallenge Day 14: Dealing with Overwhelm and Burnout - Okay so this prompt has been my challenge for the past year. As a nursing student I will be having to "deal" for the next year and a half at least. Last year I was CRAZY. I was anxious, on edge, and I stress-ate trying to get into nursing school. I finally made the decision to either be overweight and sick or strategize. The above is a chart of how I used to handle stress and how I am trying to cope now. I still am highly stressed and exhausted but these mechanisms are helping. The struggle is REAL. #plannercommunity #planneraddicts #plannernerd #bulletjournaling #bulletjournaljunkies #bulletjournal #nursingstudent #plan #planner

#planwithmechallenge Day 19. My thoughts on... I have always worried about the future and my #bulletjournal helps me feel like I have a little more control. Recording my thoughts and my feelings about what is going on in my life in my #midori helps me learn and (when necessary) let go - so I can live more fully in the present. #planwithmechallengenovember

{Day 20} #planwithmechallenge - Your Thoughts on .. planning. "I can't change the direction of the wind but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination - Jimmy Dean". I feel as if my journey is always being adjusted. My love for filofaxes was born from a need to record and look after my finances. Which started humbly. In a spirax notebook. With sticky post-it tabs. Hahaha. I laugh when I look at this but this is now the strength in my system. Believe it or not. I need to simplify my to do's and diary system. Which sounds simple enough. The needs for my system never seem to change (areas for goals / love tanks / quotes for me to letter / wellness / our life / home) But I find that this is the ever changing process. The unsatisfying piece. I haven't got this right. I am always adjusting. But, I will always reach my destination ⛵🗻

Catching up on the #planwithmechallenge! Day 16 was transitioning to a new planner and day 17 was one or many. Before I started bullet journaling last month, I used a planner insert in my traveler's notebook along with my personal size #Filofax. Transitioning to the #bulletjournal has been pretty easy and I'm enjoying making it my own! I do still use the monthly calendar in my #travelersnotebook for forward planning and I still use my Filofax for my business planning. So I guess I'm a "many" planner! 😂 #planner #bulletjournaljunkies

Day 16: Transitioning to a new planner--finally I will get to start using my Arc notebook in December. I started getting it ready some time so, with some dividers and a "filing system". This week I've been setting up some logs and trackers. I've also made a couple of "bookmarks" that are peeking out of the top, and stuck some extra sticky notes in a zipper pocket. #plannerd #planwithmechallenge #plannercommunity #bulletjournal

[14 & 16] Dealing with overwhealm and burnout / Transitioning to a new planner: I easily get overwhelmed but the one thing I love about rapid logging and daily pages #bulletjournal style is that they are totally low maintenance. So when I get overwhelmed with my life and the world we live in, I don't have to worry about empty pages and feeling guilty for not using my planner... I just leave it and pick it up again whenever I need to. A way for me to deal with the feeling of overwhelm is to organize stuff or working with perfecting things. Since I became a paper planner again, I have done this by changing up my planning system from time to time to make it even more perfect for me... It's like therapy, I guess. 🤓 This time I've moved into my Filofax Clipbook. I wanted a dot grid and good paper quality so I remembered my Clipbook and thought I'd give it a try as a bullet journal. So far I have a monthly page, this week and of course the daily pages. Today I'll go through my notebook to see which information I want to move with me. #planwithmechallenge #bulletjournaling #bujo #planner #planning #plannergeek #plannergirl #plannerlove #plannernerd #plannercommunity #filofaxfixarna #stationeryaddict #stationerylove #agenda #calendar #journal #notebook #filofaxclipbook #filofaxlove #filofaxcommunity

#planwithmechallenge Day 16. Transition into a new planner. I made the transition from my weekly calendar to my first filofax in the end of september. I wrote down my major tasks and completed most of them. It was a productive week. However I found myself writing shopping lists and smaller tasks on a post it note (not pictured) as I was determined to use the top half as a schedule. That needs tweaking. Kim's @tinyrayofsunshine recent post about how she sets up a new notebook prompted me to create this spread to plan for my new notebook in 2016. I love the #reflection aspect of a spread like this one. #planwithmechallenge Day 9: Focus - This topic can be interpreted a few ways. For me, my main focus these last few months will be getting healthy again. The past year was pretty stressful trying to get into nursing school. I stress-ate my way through studying, exams, and the entrance exam! I do not want to go into 2016 trying to work off pounds so I'm hitting it hard and it's working! Day 7 | Holiday Planning #planwithmechallenge I've always planned out my #Thanksgiving strategy, but before it was a lot more haphazardly.⚠ I'm hosting, and this year our family has been through a lot, so I really want to go all out, and make it super special. 💓😊 I still need to make a supplies list, in the space next to desserts, but I have to say, I'm really pleased with how this spread turned out. I was really inspired by the clean look of @seanwes #handlettering and #sketchnotes style. #bulletjournal #bulletjournaling #bujo #bulletjournaljunkies #planning

#planwithmechallenge day 8: work planning i do weekly lesson plans and unit plans electronically, but my unit spreads and daily notes work better when i write them by hand. i use a backwards planning method based on #understandingbydesign for my electronic plans, and an old-school planbook for daily notes, plus a printed monthly spread for when i need to see the entire unit across multiple weeks. i'm moving the unit spreads and daily notes into a #sugarpaper monthly/weekly planner beginning in january.

Day 6 of the #planwithmechallenge - Reviews. I've never properly incorporated a review into my routine before, and I think that's something I've been missing. It's hard to move forward without really assessing what's working, what isn't, and what needs to be changed. This week's review was pretty simple, as I've mostly just been focusing on building a system that works for my life. #bujo #bulletjournaling #forfoxsake

Day 9 of the #planwithmechallenge is focusing. The way I focus on my planning and getting my to do lists done is by leaving my phone on my planner. If I want to play on my phone or send a text, I've got to open up my planner to do so. It's a sneaky way of making sure I get things done, but it works! 😌

Day 8: Work Planning #planwithmechallenge I tend to do a big brain dump of to-dos on my Monday list and let the rest of the week fill in as things get pushed along. There's very few things in my work (besides scheduled meetings and weekly reports) that are regular occurrences, so having a flexible place for listing things that pop up throughout the day is a must. Something that's helped me to scratch the future planning itch is keeping a sticky note of tasks that have certain dates (bottom right). I revise this as needed. The big yellow note is for planning my weekly staff meeting and the pink flag is an idea that I want to mull over before I put it in the #bulletjournal. (The blue note with the phone on it is just to cover some text, but isn't it adorable? #marshallsfind) #planwithme #plannerlove #plannercommunity #BuJo #sapro #reslife #oneword #oneword365 #oneword2015

2 | I am spending far too much time reconfiguring my wants in my new booklet and the fact I'm needing an overhaul of my home bullet journal. #bulletjournal #planwithmechallenge #planner #bujo

Day 7: Holiday Planning! On the right shows all the people to buy for and what I've already gotten. On the left are ideas for presents for each person. It's so easy to buy this cute thing and that cute thing, but I like to really focus on what/where to buy and to have a spending cap on each person. And each week, from my weekly budget, I use money for those gifts. I really hate having a separate budget for holidays; I'd rather have us eating spaghetti and soup and oranges for the week (at $5 per meal) than go up in budget. #PlanWithMeChallenge #PlannerCommunity #PlannerNerd #PlannerAddict #BulletJournal #Moleskine

Day 3 of the #planwithmechallenge : My Notebooks & Why. Wasn't sure if this means all that I own or the ones I'm using for November! Pictured is pretty much all I have, but I'm going to write about the booklets I'm using in my #travelersnotebook this month. They're nothing fancy, just plain large moleskine notebooks. The first one is where I write my values, roles, and long term goals. The second one is where I do the bulk of my planning and journaling. The third one is a place where I write only things that make me happy such as Scripture, quotes, anything I love. And the last one is where I am documenting/photo journaling my de-owning or decluttering journey. 📝 #plannernerd #plannerlove #planneraddict #planner #midoritravelersnotebook #planning #virtubella

#planwithmechallenge Day 7- Holiday planning. I have never planned for any holiday besides Christmas before and that was always just a quickly jotted down list of ideas. So yesterday I made this chart to hopefully be more organized. I JUST started it so only a few names are on there, lol, do not fear, family and friends! #bulletjournaljunkie #bulletjournal #bulletjournaling

Day 03 (So much catching up to do) - Notebooks & Why -- I really only use these two planners (and the red notebook I use as my writing notebook and forgot to photograph). The is for my Library lessons, etc. I realized Bullet Journaling wouldn't work well for the future planning needed for lesson planning. Haven't fully gotten the hang out it, but I'm getting there. Otherwise it's my trusty BuJo setup in my blue TN, my red writing Journal (this iteration is a medium, lined Shinola), and my Sojourner, which serves as my wallet. -- #planwithmechallenge #bulletjournal #travelersnotebook

#planwithmechallenge day 3 - my notebooks and why. Well, I try to stay with only ONE notebook, (which is hard when you love notebooks right?), but instead of a notebook we do have this family organizing system up on the wall to keep everybody in the house on track when it comes to planning. #planwithmechallengeday3

#planwithmechallenge Day 5 Priorities ~ this is my #bulletjournal #signifier list that lets me know how high of priority my to dos are. It gets moved to each new insert. #midoritravelersnotebook

{day 5} priorities : my biggest priority is always the baby, some days that means I do nothing except sit on the couch with her. I star the tasks that are important, especially when they are a few days old like picking up the ringsling which I forgot to do yesterday

[Day 4 of the #PlanWithMeChallenge: Goal Setting] This is my fav. I have a LOT of daily things I have to monitor for my health, and that can be a drag. So I turned it into a game! Ducks are Debbie Bucks, and they can be traded in for awesome prizes. There's a very complex system of rewards, higher rewards for the tougher items & "Week Streaks," etc. #DoWhatYouGottaDo #PlayTheCards --------------- #Planner #Planning #PlannerCommunity #PlannerLove #PlannerAddict #PlannerGirl #PlannerNerd #BulletJournal #BuJo #BulletJournalLove #Moleskine #MoleskinePlanner #Health #Healthy #HealthGoals #Goals #GoalSetting #WeightLoss

Day 3: My notebook and why. First of all, its a moleskine dot grid journal. I love keeping my stuff all together in one easy to refer to location. Ive got pages of art therapy, postcards from trips ive taken, notes from lectures i attend on my own time as well as prompts and challenges i do for my journal and alot more. Kind of like a scrapbook for my everyday life. You guys should check out @decadethirty 's 30 day promptcycle. I am totally loving it! I know its gonna add some personality to my journals beyond just my everyday tasks. #planwithmechallenge #bulletjournal

Day 3: My Notebooks & Why #planwithmechallenge MY NOTEBOOKS: I'm using a binder from #Target and a Studio C notebook from #Walmart. The notebook is just for trying to use up the leftover paper inside. However, I love that it has a pocket in the cover - something my binder lacks. I use the pocket for my posits and leftover #erincondren stickers from my attempt using a #eclifeplanner for 2013-14. WHY: I tried out the #bulletjournal thing about a year ago, but it didn't work out for me at the time. The planner I'd gotten for 2015-16 (a $7.99 #marshallsfind) was nice, but I made the mistake of putting in all my appointments for the semester in a while ago, so now I can't use it for anything but looking at the routine I already know by heart (or can see in my phone). I was searching for a new method and found myself swooning over BuJo pins and I decided to take the plunge. I'm using a binder so I can reorder and toss out pages at will, but keep collections all in one place. I'm also loving the creative aspect of handwriting and doodling. #plannerlove #frugal #plannercommunity

Day 02 - November Setup -- I've finally grown to like the monthly page. It's a good place to track daily things like hours. (Or #nanowrimo for this month) Otherwise, still trucking with the daily bullet journal pages. -- -- #planwithmechallenge #bulletjournal #travelersnotebook

#planwithmechallenge #bulletjournal My notebooks and why.... One standard bullet journal with little bits of color and fun and one is more a logbook of things specifically relating to my kids. Don't want doctors and maybe lawyers having to wade through grocery lists and to-do's to find kid specific stuff. Oh, and just went back to Moleskine grid cahiers this month.

November setup, day 2 of #planwithmechallenge. I just use my EC Life planner to track my appointments, todos and color coded time tracking. I tape in a habit tracker onto the EC bookmark so it moves week to week. I started slacking on my habits last month and decided to color code my habit tracker too to bring some pretty color into November. My first time using stickers in my planner too! #eclp #bulletjournaljunkies #planwithmechallenge #bujo #bulletjournal #planner #plannerjunkie #planneraddict

day 2 of #planwithmechallenge: november set-up i prefer lots of white space for writing and color-coding, so i don't get into tons of stickers and washi, but i like a bit here and there for emphasis.

Back to basics this month in my bullet journal. November and December are insanely busy for us, as I'm sure they are for you. I think one notebook for everything is going to help keep my stress level under control.
