#RockYourHandwriting March

Last month was the first iteration of the #RockYourHandwriting Challenge and it was a MASSIVE success! There were over 7K photos shared this month! Seems like this struck a nerve for a lot of people wanting to improve their everyday handwriting. It was fantastic seeing how everyone progressed over the course of the month! Great penmanship takes time and one month is not enough time to make a drastic improvement.

Which is why Kara (Boho Berry), Dee (Decade Thirty), Jessica (Pretty Prints and Paper), and I (Tiny Ray of Sunshine) are going to keep the fun going for another month!

The purpose of this handwriting challenge is to help you improve your everyday handwriting. Other challenges out there focus on specific types of handwriting with special tools such as calligraphy or brush pens, but there hasn’t been one created where the focus is on improving your own natural handwriting. That said, there were plenty of participants who shared how they were working on their handwriting with brush pens, dip pens, and more! It's open to interpretation and you can use any writing instrument of your choice. The important thing is that you're practicing every day.

To help your practice efforts, I created a few free printables to help you tidy up your handwriting, which you can check out write here (pun intended).

Each individual’s handwriting is wonderfully unique, but we understand the desire to neaten it up. With the various prompts we hope to encourage you to work on your own handwriting to bring it to a level that you are happy with!

We enjoy creating challenges because they allow for a community component and it is a wonderful way to stay accountable and get inspiration. For this specific challenge you may pick up a nuance from someone else’s handwriting and add it to your own. The main purpose of this challenge is to celebrate your handwriting and neaten it up!

To bring ourselves into the equation of this awesome handwriting challenge idea, Jessica wrote out the header, Kara wrote out our names, Dee wrote out the prompts, and I painted the watercolor background. We put a lot of thought and excitement into this challenge and we're stoked to bring it to you to enjoy as well!

Special section this month

This month we decided to make a fun new prompt to encourage extra practice. The prompt is a quote from each one of us, which you'll notice starts on day 17 through 20. The idea behind this is that you rewrite our quote to get some handwriting practice in. We could choose whether to share our favorite quote or make up something we said into a quote. I chose to go with something I've said :)

Kim's quote:

"To do awesome things, you need to start where you are. When you're aware of where you are, you can take steps to where you want to be. Sometimes the journey will be difficult, and sometimes you'll have fantastic breakthrough moments. It's about taking that next step and doing what you want to feel. We think we do as we feel, but the truth is that we feel as we do. How do you want to feel? What can you do, right now, to help you feel that way?"

How to Join:

  • Join us over on Instagram and/or the newly created Facebook Page
  • Each day write out a response in relation to the day’s prompt. For example, day 2 is ‘before’ so you could write out the alphabet, your favorite quote, or anything with a decent amount of handwriting so that on day 28 you can compare how you’ve improved by writing out the same thing.
  • Take a photo of this response and add the hashtag #rockyourhandwriting so that we can root you on!
  • Follow Kara (@Boho.Berry), Dee (@DecadeThirty), Jessica (@PrettyPrintsandPaper), and I (@TinyRayofSunshine).

We hope you’ll join us for the challenge to work on improving your handwriting every day!
